Brawley Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning.

Brawley Police officers responded to the area of K Street and South Cesar Chavez Street at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday after receiving numerous calls about gunshots being heard. Officers located a 21-year old victim suffering from a gunshot would. The victim was transported to Pioneers Memorial Hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition. 

During the course of the investigation , a 16-year old Calipatria resident was identified as a suspect in the shooting. The suspect was located in the City of Los Angeles , where he surrendered to Brawley Police officers at the Newton Division station. The suspect was returned to Imperial County and booked into Juvenile Hall on charges of attempted murder. Brawley police say that there no indication that Sundays shooting is related to the previous shooting that occurred last week in Brawley and resulted in the death of a man. 

Both shootings currently being investigated and Brawley Police Department investigators are asking anyone with any information on either incident contact them.
