(Tuesday is Election Day)…It is a Primary Election in the state.
There are, however, several important issues on the ballot. Proposition 68 could be very important to Imperial Valley. The Water Bond Measure would allow the Imperial County to compete for several grants, and it would provide $200 million for mitigation at the Salton Sea. County Measure Y would determine an ordinance to tax the legal Cannabis ordinance in the County. There are several races on the local ballot that have become controversial, especially the Imperial Irrigation District Division races. The Race for Division one pits incumbent Juanita Salas and challenger Alex Cardenas. The race for Division 3 features incumbent James Hanks and Raul Navarro. The race for Division five has the most candidates, with incumbent Norma Sierra Galindo being challenged by Carlos Zaragoza, Ruben Cazares, Luis Castro, and James Horn. There is a possibility the Division five race could go to a run-off in November. The polls will be open from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm Tuesday. Absentee ballots can be turned in at any polling place on Election Day. All ballots will be counted once the polls close. Election updates will be available on the KXO Radio website, and live on KXO AM and FM 107.5 once the polls close.
