The California Highway Patrol is investigating an off-road accident that resulted in major injuries to a passenger and the arrest of the driver.
The incident occurred at about 9:15 Wednesday night in the area of Hot Mineral Spa Road north of Niland. According to the CHP , a Polaris off-road vehicle was being driven in the desert by 55-year old Sherri Ann Sikorski with a passenger , 58-year old Craig Bashford. Bashford apparently fell out of the ATV and sustained major injuries to his head , face , and neck. He was flown to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment. Sikorski was injured. She was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and booked at Imperial County Jail. The case remains under investigation.
