The Brawley City Council has ended the Interim status of Police Chief Jonathan Blackstone.

The council ratified the Employment Agreement formally appointing Blackstone Police Chief. Blackstone has been with the City of Brawley since 2006 and has served as Interim Chief since January of this year. The three-year term began Tuesday. The council also approved a one-time $10,000 sponsorship of the 2026 Cattle Call Festivities. Domestic Violence Awareness Month was proclaimed for the month of October.
