Yuma Police responded to the report of a stolen car at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday.

The vehicle was taken sometime during the night from the 900 block of W. 2nd Street. Shortly after 10:00 a.m., The car was spotted by Quechan Tribal Police. They followed the stolen vehicle to an apartment complex on Somerton Avenue. The driver fled on foot after crashing into a palm tree. A perimeter was set up around the apartment complex and a search begun. At 11:44 a.m., a 16-year-old male was taken into custody. A search warrant was served at the apartment where the youth was located, and officers found a firearm, cash, and other crime-related evidence. The teen was booked into the Yuma County Juvenile Justice Center on several felony offenses.
