A partial lunar eclipse will be visible Thursday night, August 27, 2026.

Starting at about 7:15 p.m. moonrise begins along the southeastern horizon. The partial eclipse will begin at about 7:34 p.m. and reach the maximum eclipse peak at 9:13 p.m. A suggestion for optimal viewing includes looking low to the east as the moon rises. No special equipment is needed, it's completely safe to look at the moon. The forecast for the Imperial Valley projects partly cloudy skies during the late evening hours but the lunar eclipse should be visible. The moon will have a rusty, copper-red color.
