Imperial County has a new Superior Court judge.

Governor Gavin Newsom has appointed Martin Gonzales to the local bench. Gonzales has served as a Referee at the Imperial County Superior Court since 2022. He served as a Deputy District Attorney at the Imperial County District Attorney's Office from 2017 to 2022. He was an Associate at Walker and Driskil prior to that. Judge Gonzales received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. He fills a vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Eran Bermudez to the Court of Appeals.
