(The City of El Centro issues a scam alert)....The scam is; Unauthorized Solicitation using the El Centro Library name.

The City is warning local businesses and organizations about the scam. They say a local business recently received a $500 invoice for advertising on grocery/tote bags allegedly associated with the El Centro Public Library. The City and Library did not request, authorize, sponsor or participate in this advertising campaign. They say local businesses and organizations may also receive phone calls attempting to solicit advertising or payment while claiming an association with the library. If you receive a similar call, invoice or solicitation they recommend you do not make a payment or provide financial information. Do not assume it is legitimate because it references the City or Library. Verify any solicitation directly with the City of El Centro before responding.
