Several Imperial County transit projects have been funded.
The California Transportation Commission (CTC) has allocated nearly $540 million in transportation related grants. The funds come from the federal infrastructure improvement and Jobs Act of 2021, Senate Bill SB1, and the State Highway Account. Imperial County projects that will be funded include:
$6.5 million for emergency roadway and culvert repairs. The infrastructure damage occurred along State Route 86 in August 2025 and again in December 2025 when flash flooding was caused by storms swept the Imperial Valley.
$1.2 million was allocated for pedestrian safety improvement projects in the city of El Centro.
$1.8 million at he Calexico East Port of Entry for the design of. new intermodal transportation center.
$1 million at the Calexico East Port of Entry for the acquisition of private property to construct a new intermodal transportation center.
