The Imperial Irrigation District has earned the American Public Power Associations Safety Award of Excellence.

The award is for the district's safe operating practices. The IID earned the Diamond Award based on the district's 2025 safety record and comprehensive safety programs. More than 240 utilities entered the annual program.The entrants are placed in accordance with their worker-hours and ranked by the number of incident-free records and the overall state of their safety programs and culture.
