U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized guns from a car headed south.

The incident occurred at the Calexico downtown Port of Entry on May 9, 2026. A 35-year-old woman, a U.S. citizen, heading southbound and ready to enter Mexico, was referred to secondary inspection. In secondary, a nonintrusive inspection system and a CBP K-9 team alerted to the car's rear bumper. A physical inspection led to the discovery of 6 handguns, 12 magazines, and 1,895 rounds of ammunition. The woman was arrested and faces federal charges.
