A pedestrian was fatally injured in a hit and run accident Thursday night.

El Centro Police responded to the area of Imperial Avenue and Pico Avenue at about 9:20 p.m. Thursday. On arrival, officers found a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle. The vehicle and driver then fled the scene. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene .Through witness statements, officers identified and located the suspect vehicle and driver. The driver was subsequently arrested for felony Hit and Run Causing Death. The investigation is ongoing and El Centro Police request that anyone with any information on the accident contact them.
