The Imperial Valley Food bank has released their 2025 Annual Report.
The local food bank reached out to over 52,800 unduplicated county residents who received food last year. A monthly average of nearly 27,500 Imperial Valley neighbors were served every month last year. One thousand five hundred local students received weekly backpacks of food to help them through weekends. According to the review, over 8.1 million pounds of food was distributed. Nearly 1.2 million pounds of local produce was recovered and distributed. Behind the numbers are 3,000 individual volunteers and 18 Food Bank employees. According to the report, the value of the impact to the Imperial Valley community was $13,942,580. According to Elvira Gonzales, President of the Board of Directors, Despite the increasing cuts to federal funding to address the hunger gap, the Imperial Valley community stepped up to help meet the needs for thousands of children, families and seniors.
