There are plenty of activities scheduled for this weekend.

The Imperial Valley will have special events to keep you busy. Saturday is the Frankie L. Chavez Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser. The event keeps alive the memory of a young man that tragically lost his life in a traffic accident. The fundraiser raises money for scholarships for local youth. There will be softball and horseshoe tournaments, music and family fun at Hinojosa Park in Brawley. The Frankie L. Chavez Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser runs from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

The Imperial County Firefighters Association is partnering with Southwest High School for a Public Safety Flag Football Tournament. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Southwest Eagles football program. Cost is $5.00 with kids 12 and under free. Southwest Boosters will be operating the concession stand. The tournament starts at 8:30 a.m. 

American Legion Post 801 in Bombay Beach will host a Fish Fry Fundraiser on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be breaded cod, French fries, Cole slaw, soft drinks and chocolate cake as well as live music and a rummage sale and even a car show. Cost for the dinner is $20.00.

Saturday is Pioneer Day at the Imperial Valley Pioneers' Museum. This free event will feature bands, pony rides, blacksmithing, an old west shootout, food vendors and more. It starts at 10:00 a.m. and runs until 2:00 p.m.at the museum on Aten Road.

Look for beads, live music and fun. The City of El Centro celebrates Mardi Gras 2026 with a street festival and a parade. Fun starts at 5:00 p.m. with the kick-off of the street festival. The Mardi Gras Parade led by King Jaime Honold and Queen Viviana Honold will start at 6:00 p.m. the parade features a new route through downtown El Centro, starting at 12th and Main and concluding at 6th and Main Street.
