The El Centro Police Department has noticed an increase in Jeep Wranglers being stolen in the Imperial Valley.
The Jeep Wanglers and similar vehicles with push-to-start features are being targeted by thieves. The crooks can target key fobs, and in some cases, duplicate a key using electronic devices. This allows thieves to steal the vehicles quickly and quietly. Police suggest that you can protect your vehicle from theft by taking a few precautions.
Use a steering wheel lock.
Alarms, Immobilizers, or kill switches.
Protect your key fob in a Faraday pouch or wrap them in aluminum foil.
Attach a GPS tracker.
Taking a few steps could protect you from the high-tech thieves.
