On Wednesday, El Centro Police responded to a report of suspicious subjects near the railroad tracks on North Imperial Avenue.

Officers attempted to contact an individual near a makeshift transient camp, but the individual ran away. Officers were able to detain the suspect at Taser point. He was taken into custody. A search of the area led to the discovery of packaged narcotic substances and a .22 caliber rifle. A records check revealed the suspect is currently on parole for Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was booked into Imperial County jail on multiple felony charges.
