(Groundbreaking ceremony set)....The City of El Centro will host the groundbreaking ceremony on October 1.

The ceremony will be from 6-7 pm. Gomez Park is located at 901 South Hope Street. The City has received a $5.7 million Proposition 68 grant. The funds will be used for a full reconstruction to create a modern, inclusive community space. The Gomez Park Project represents the largest park grant the City has ever received. The City says it reflects their ongoing commitment to recreation, wellness and family centered amenities. Improvements include 2 multi-sport courts with lighting, All-inclusive playgrounds, adult exercise area, restroom and snack bar facility, shaded picnic ramadas, pavilion and walking path with senior exercise stations, large athletic field with lighting, and two parking lots with alley improvements. The project is expected to take about 12 months to complete.
