The City of El Centro, in coordination with the Mexican Consulate in Calexico and the Government of Mexicali, has announced the Flavors Without Borders. It is a bi-national cultural celebration being held Thursday from 6-9 pm at the IV Mall.. The event commemorates the 10 anniversary of the sister city relationship between El Centro and Mexicali, established in 2015. It will highlight ongoing collaboration in areas such as education, public safety, and cultural exchange. The event will include the presentation of the OHTLI award to Brawley Elementary School District Trustee Cesar Guzman, recognizing his decades of dedication to serving Imperial Valley community and promoting education empowerment among residents of Mexican Origin. The event will feature regional cuisine, music and traditions that reflect the cultural ties between the Imperial Valley and Mexicali Valley. The event is free to the public.
