Four suspects were arrested for furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors.

On Saturday, August 3, 2025, officers from the El Centro Police Department and agents from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), conducted Operation Shoulder Tap, a program that targets adults who purchase alcohol for underage people. A minor under the direct supervision of a peace officer stands outside a liquor or convenience store and asks patrons to buy them alcohol. The minor indicates that they are underage and cannot legally purchase alcohol.

If an adult agrees to purchase the alcohol for the underage person they can be arrested and cited for furnishing alcohol to a minor with a a penalty f a minimum $1,000 fine and 24 hours community service. Operation Shoulder Tap is part of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control's Minor Decoy/Shoulder Tap Grant Project.
