Yuma Police have arrested a suspect in a Friday Hit and Run accident.
The accident occurred shortly before 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of S. 8th Avenue and W. 22nd Street. A gray Honda Odyssey hit a pedestrian, and then fled the scene. The pedestrian, a young girl, was taken to Oneida Health with non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses were able to provide license plate information and a description of the driver to investigating officers. YPD investigators were able to find an address where the car was registered but initially were unable to make contact with the driver. Shortly after noon on Saturday, the driver of the vehicle contacted the Yuma Police Department wanting to turn himself in. The suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Fernando Delgado. Delgado as arrested and booked into the Yuma County Jail for Driving with a Suspended license, Failure to Stay at the Scene of an accident as well as warrants unrelated to the hit and run. The case is still under investigation.
