(Officer Involved shooting Wednesday night...It was reported at just after 8 pm.

The report was a suspicious individual was attempting to burglarize a residence. The caller said it was an adult male, who may be armed. An officer arrived at the scene, reported to be at 2nd and State Street in El Centro. The officer made contact with the suspect, During the encounter, an Officer Involved Shooting occurred. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity is not being released, pending notification of next of kin. As per California Law, The Department of Justice has assumed the investigation. Since the investigation is ongoing and complex, no other details can be released at this time. ECPD says information will be released as it is confirmed.
