( April Unemployment down slightly)....April numbers are the latest available.

The report was release recently by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. According to the report, April unemployment came in at 16 %. That is slightly down from the revised 16.6 reported for March 2025, and above the year-ago estimate of 15.5%. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 5% for California an 3.9% for the nation during the same period. The April report indicates there were 11,500 eligible people unemployed out of a labor fore of 71,800. Imperial County had the highest unemployment rate in the state.
