Separate incidents led to two firearms being taken of the streets.
On Monday, El Centro Police Department dayshift officers responded to a disturbance where a gun was brandished. Officers went to a residence where the suspects in the incident were said to be hiding. Officers located one of the suspects who happened to have an outstanding warrant. The firearm used in the incident was also located but two other suspects were not located until officers went to a second residence where the suspects were found. In all, four suspects were arrested and face charges ranging from Assault with a Deadly Weapon to various other weapons charges and outstanding warrants.
The California Highway Patrol said that a routine traffic stop on State Route 111, just south of Interstate 8, led to the discovery of an assault-style rifle. Both the driver and a passenger were taken into custody and booked into Imperial County Jail on weapons violations.
