The Naval Air Facility-El Centro Air Show is set for Saturday, depending on congressional budget action.

The annual event is traditionally the kick-off of the U.S. Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, season. The Blue Angels spend January through March at the NAF-El Centro base training for their grueling air show schedule. Gates open at the local base at 8:30 a.m. All attendees 18 and older must show a valid government issued identification to get on the base. Admission and parking is free. There will be lots of static displays and civilian and military aircraft will performing. The Blue Angels are scheduled to fly at about 2:00 p.m.

NAF-El Centro has issued an alert about the potential cancellation of the Air Show. If a new federal budget is not passed or another continuing resolution is not enacted by 9:00 p.m. local time Friday evening the Commanding Officer, in consultation with headquarters, will be REQUIRED to cancel the Air Show.
