A Winterhaven man will be sentenced to 12 years in prison for Attempted Murder and domestic violence.

According to Imperial County District Attorney George Marquez, on Friday, Jason Jose Jr, pleaded No Contest to a charge of Attempted Murder and admitted an enhancement of causing great bodily injury in a domestic violence case that occurred about a year ago. Jose Jr. agreed to a sentence of 12 years in state prison for the offense. He had been charged with attacking and beating the mother of his child over a period of 10 days. It was also alleged that Jose Jr. strangled the victim and struck her with a handgun. Sentencing is scheduled for February 26, 2025.
