Imperial County has unveiled the Draft Lithium Valley Specific Plan.
The plan proposes pre-zoned land uses over approximately 51,000 acres in the Northland of Imperial Valley. The land uses include green industrial, playas renewables, manufacturing, community opportunity areas, logistics, playas restoration, conservation, solar, interim agriculture, a conceptual rail hub, as well as transportation corridors. According to the county, this framework for development was drafted over a two-and-a-half-year period with input from the community, industry, stakeholders, as well as state and federal agencies. The county added that " the plan creates a framework for a vertically integrated energy, lithium, and manufacturing ecosystem unlike any in the world".
