(January 20th is a holiday)...It is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

It is a day to celebrate the birthday of the civil rights leader. The Imperial Valley Social Justice Committee will host their annual event. At 11:30 Monday morning they will begin a Freedom Walk starting at the Martin Luther King Jr. Sports Pavillion at Park and 8th Streets in El Centro. They will walk to the County Courthouse on Main Street. On the steps of the Courthouse they will re-enact the I Had A Dream Speech. The Imperial Valley Social Justice Committee will also host their annual MLK Stone of Hope Awards event. That will be held January 25th at the Prestige Events Center at 1111 Yourman Road. Tickets for that event is $60. The event Monday is free and open to the public.
