(CBP intercepts unreported cash)....It was over $44,100 in unreported currency.

They found the cash hidden in a vehicle. It was during an outbound inspection of vehicles going into Mexico at the San Ysidro Port of Entry. Wednesday afternoon, Customs and Border Protection officers were conducting the outbound operations. A 27 year old woman driving a 2024 sedan was referred to the secondary inspection area.. ACBP K-9 unit alerted to a white plastic bag in the vehicle. The bag contained food items. The bag also contained a brown package. The CBP officers opened the package and found $44,148 in unreported cash. According to law, any amount over $10,000 cannot be taken out of the country without first reporting it. CBP seized the cash and Homeland Security Investigations special agents initiated a criminal investigation.
