(Holtville City Council passes a new ordinance)...It was passed at the City Council meeting this week.

It goes into effect immediately. It deals with setting up chairs and other seating to view the Carrot Festival Parade and similar events. The ordinance was passed as an emergency. It was approved on a 3-2 vote. Businesses and others complained about residents reserving the seating by setting up chairs and other seating up to a week before the event. The new ordinance says the seating cannot be set-up until the day before the event. The Carrot Festival Parade will be on a Saturday. That means seating cannot be reserved along the parade route until  Friday. Other communities have a similar ordinance.
