(Large amount of methamphetamine seized).....Customs and Border Protection Officers seized the meth earlier this week.
A 46 year old man driving a 2024 pick-up attempted to cross into the United States from Mexico at the West Port of Entry. After a preliminary inspection, the vehicle and driver were sent to the secondary inspection area. A CBP k-9 unit screened the vehicle. The k-9 alerted to the rear drivers side of the vehicle. Using non-intrusive imaging technology, the officers conducted a more detailed search. Irregularities were found in the front passenger and rear seats. A physical search resulted min the discovery of 11 packages wrapped in foil. The packages tested positive for methamphetamine. The meth was found in a factory compartment under the rear seat and in the fenders of the pick-up. The packages weighed over 152 pounds. The driver was taken into custody and turned over to the Homeland Security Investigations. The narcotics and the vehicle were seized by the CBP.
