( A previous report has been updated)...It had been reported a man was shot Christmas Eve at Slab City.

County Sheriff's responded to the call. at the time they said it did not appear he had been shot. They said it appeared he had suffered blunt force trauma to the head and chest. It has now been determined the victim did indeed suffer a gunshot wound to the chest. The incident is being investigated by the Sheriff's Special Investigations Unit along with the County Coroner's office. It has been reported there is a person of interest, but that person is not considered a suspect at this time.
