An appointment this week filled the fifth seat on the Brawley City Council.

In a unanimous vote Brawley City Council members appointed Perry Monita to fill the seat that had been held by Like Hamby. Hamby announced his resignation from the council prior to the November election. Monita finished fourth in the November race, narrowly missing the top three. Monita is retired from the Brawley Police Department. He was one of five candidates who were interviewed for the appointment.during a special council meeting this week. The appointment runs through November of 2026.
