(It was the start of a new school year)....Many students went to school with a brand new backpack and school supplies.

In Calipatria, State Senator Steve Padilla welcomed more than 100 kids to his Back to School Legislative Resources event. The students received a boost with new backpacks and school supplies. The event was held recently in partnership with the City of Calipatria, the Calipatria Chamber of Commerce and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Families also had an opportunity to connect with state resources aimed at supporting education and community well being.
