A suspect is in custody after a sexual battery reported in Brawley.

Brawley Police reported that shortly after 5:00 p.m. Monday. officers responded to the 100 block of K Street. An adult female, who was waiting outside the school for her children, reported that a man approached her from behind and groped her before fleeing the area. A short time later, another 911 call was received with a woman reporting that a man had entered the back seat of her car. The suspect, later identified as Felipe Garcia, 31, from Brawley, fled when he saw the woman on her phone. Minutes after receiving the call, officers attempted to detain Garcia. Garcia was combative and began to fight with the officers. Garcia grabbed one of the officers firearms during the struggle before being subdued. Garcia was booked into Imperial County Jail on multiple charges including, Violation of Probation, Attempted Removal of aa Firearm from a Peace Officer, Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing a Police Officer, Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, Touching an Intimate Part of Another Person, and Battery on School Grounds. Garcia is being held without bail.
