The Imperial County Elections Department has issued another update on the November 5, 2024, General Election.
With nearly 33,000 votes counted so far there have been only slight changes in the various races. In the County Board of Supervisors District 2 contest, Martha Cardenas Singh leads Diahna Garcia-Ruiz by 72 votes, 3,353 to 3,281. The Imperial Irrigation District 4 race shows Lewis Pacheco with 2,627 votes to Javier Gonzales' 2,470. A difference of 157 votes.
The count on the local measures on the ballot show Measures I, J, and M passing. Only a simple majority is necessary for passage.
Measure H for the Heber Elementary School District has 66% yes votes.
Measure K for the Imperial Unified School District Bonds and Measure L for the Brawley Elementary School District Bonds both fall short of the 55 percent needed for passage. Measure K has 51.58 percent yes and Measure l has 53.84 percent yes.
There remain approximately 17,000 ballots to be counted of which nearly 6,500 are provisional ballots that will take more time.
