(Meteorologists say temperatures were slightly warmer this past summer)...Health officials, however, say there was less heat related illness.
According to the last Heat Related illness update released by the Public Health Department. The report indicated there were 149 heat related illnesses this year, compared to 191 last summer. This year there were 11 cases of Heat Stroke, 71 cases of Heat exhaustion, 56 cases of Heat fatigue or dehydration, and 11 heat related deaths. That compares to 22 Heat related deaths reported last year. The report was compiled from numbers provided by El Centro Regional Medical Center, Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District, and the County Coroners Office.
