The El Centro Police Department has received two grants.
The grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) will enhance road safety and improve traffic data reporting. One grant, for $65,000, will support traffic enforcement and education programs such as DUI checkpoints, high-visibility patrols and community safety presentations. Another grant, for $110,000, will enable faster, more efficient crash and citation data reporting, which is expected to strengthen data driven traffic safety strategies across the city. Funding for the programs is provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
