(A Commercial Passenger bus was crossing the border recently)....It was crossing at the San Ysidro Port.
There was a driver in the bus, but no passengers. The bus was referred to the secondary inspection area. A non-intrusive scan of the bus was performed using the port's imaging system. Irregularities were found in the rear cargo area.. A CBP K-9 team also scanned the area and also alerted to the area. Customs and Border Protection Officers searched the area and found dozens of suspicious packages. There were 70 packages all together. They tested positive for cocaine. The packages weighed over 187 pounds. The bus and narcotics were seized by the CBP officers. The 51 year old bus driver was taken into custody and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.
