(Violent Suspect arrested Monday)...It took place at Highway 86 and Salton Sea Road.
County Sheriff's Deputy Brandon Kalin was on patrol. He approached a mini van parked on the side of the road. The Deputy spotted two individuals, a male and a female. Both were asleep in the mini van. The Deputy knocked on the window to conduct a welfare check. The Deputy noticed the female had injuries on her face. The Deputy separated the two and called paramedics. As she was being treated, the woman told another Deputy she was the victim of domestic violence. The male was arrested and charged with domestic violence. A charge of attempted murder was added after they noticed strangulation marks on the woman. The man was identified as Jesus Rojas, a transient. He was booked into county jail with bail set at $1 million.
