Royce Freeman was released by the Dallas Cowboys.
Despite having a productive pre-season, running back Royce Freeman was released as NFL teams made cuts to reach the 53-player roster limits. Freeman, who starred for the Imperial High School Tigers, holds the CIF-San Diego Section rushing record with 7,606 career yards for the Tigers. At Oregon, Freeman racked up 5,621 yards rushing, the all-time record for Pac-12 schools. Freeman was drafted in the third round of the 2018 NFL draft by the Denver Broncos. Freeman has also played for the Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, and Los Angeles Rams before signing earlier this year with the Cowboys. NFL insiders say that with his career numbers and the good preseason this year, Freeman is likely to land with another team at some point this season.
