(Pioneers Memorial Healthcare Distr4ict filed a lawsuit)....The suit challenges the implementation of AB 918.

The litigation is against the newly created Imperial Valley Healthcare District and the Imperial Valley Local Area Formation Commission, or LAFCO.. The basis of the lawsuit is that by enacting AB 918, they are violating existing state law and taking away established right of California voters to decide on the creation or dissolution of a Healthcare District. The Imperial Valley Healthcare District requested the PMHD claims be dismissed. The US District Court the PMHD claims will not be dismissed, and instead the litigation will return to the jurisdiction of the state courts where the case was originally filed. The Court also awarded PMHD attorney's fees relating to its federal filings.
