(Public Health Department issues an update)....It is the 2024 Heat Related illness update.
According to the update, heat related illnesses have increased. Fortunately, Heat Related Deaths have not increased. There have been 10 heat related deaths in Imperial County since the beginning of summer. There have been 11 cases of heat stroke reported, 57 cases of heat exhaustion and 43 cases of heat fatigue and dehydration. The Public Health Department says the numbers are provided by El Centro Regional Medical Center, Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District and the Imperial County Coroner's Office. There is still about a month of high temperatures to go. The Health Department says exposure to high temperatures can cause serious health problems, even death. Take precautions and know where the Cool Centers and Hydration Stations are located.
