Over $750,000 worth of methamphetamine was found concealed in a load of celery.
U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Otay Mesa Commercial Facility found the drugs concealed in a shipment of celery. CBP officers directed the diver of a tractor-trailer rig to secondary inspection where the celery was offloaded for inspection. A CBP K-9 Team alerted to the celery and officers were able uncover 508 packages of methamphetamine hidden in the celery.Total weight was nearly 630 pounds with an estimated street value of $755,000. The driver, a 34-year-old man with a valid border crossing card, was turned over to investigators with Homeland Security Investigations.
