Imperial Irrigation District Board Chair Alex Cardenas has been elected to the American Public Power Association (APPA) Policy Makers Council.

The APPA is the voice of not-for-profit, community-owned utilities, representing public power before the federal government, advocating and advising on electricity policy, technology, trends, training, and operations. Cardenas said, " As IID Chairman, I am honored to serve as Second Vice President of the American Public Power Association's Policy Makers Council and look forward to developing legislative strategies concerning critical issues such as Feasible CO2 Emission Reduction Strategies, Equitable Federal Infrastructure Investments, and Enacting Energy Permitting Reform". The PMC meets twice a year in Washington, D.C.
