Evacuations have been ordered by CalFire because of the Grove 2 Fire burning on Palomar Mountain.
The apparent lightning-sparked fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in rugged terrain near the summit of Palomar Mountain in eastern San Diego County. Crews are faced with difficult access and steep challenging terrain. CalFire says that the fire is driven by the terrain and fuel. As of Wednesday evening, there were 150 personnel assigned to the fire along with 4 helicopters, fifteen engines and 2 bulldozers. Firefighting air tankers from throughout California are also flying fire suppression missions as conditions allow.
