The internet issues affecting airlines, banks and various agencies around the globe are also affecting the City of El Centro.

While all critical systems are operating the city says their email and electronic billing systems are currently off line. According to a new release distributed through social media, the 9-1-1- system and water / wastewater distribution systems are functioning. El Centro Regional Medical Center remains unaffected by the incident.

The massive technology outage has affected sources throughout the world. According to Microsoft, the outage was caused by their cyber security provider with uploading a faulty update.. They said that the outage is not a security issue nor is it a cyberattack. There has been no word on when the system issues will be fully resolved.
