A traffic stop by U.S. Border Patrol agents from the El Centro Sector resulted in the seizure of weapons and ammunition.
On July 1, agents conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 10 in Chiriaco Summit. A Border Patrol K-9 team alerted to the vehicle a search led to the discovery of weapons and ammunition hidden in two duffle bags, one in the trunk and a second in the cars back seat. Agents found 28 rifles, one handgun, 30 high-capacity magazines and 2,210 rounds of ammunition of various calibers. The man driving the car, a U.S. citizen, was turned over to a local law enforcement task force.
