The Calexico Police Department has released more information on the Monday morning fatal shooting.

Investigators have determined that the incident that occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m. at the One Stop Business and Employment Center was a murder - suicide. According to witnesses, a 61-year-old woman from Holtville entered the One Stop building , said that her husband was outside, and then left. Another witness reported hearing a loud noise and on checking, found the woman sitting in her vehicle. A 76-year-old Calexico man was just outside the vehicle holding a firearm. Both had sustained gunshot wounds. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital where he died from his wounds. 

Investigators believe the man followed the woman to the One Stop in a separate vehicle where he confronted her and shot her I the head. The man than apparently shot himself in the chest. Investigators said the two were married but in the process of getting a divorce. The incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide.
