Calfire reports that the Mccain Fire is contained.

The fire, started last week by a car crash, burned over 1,600 acres north of Interstate 8 in the area of Jacumba and Campo. As of Sunday about 55 personnel remained on the scene patrolling for hotspots while aerial tankers made drops on the remaining flareups.

The Thompson Fire in Butte County continues to burn .he fire started on July 2 and so far has involved over 1,700 personnel, including an Imperial Valley Strike Team made up of Imperial County Fire Department as well as El Centro, Calipatria, Calexico, and Holtville. The team was dispatched on July 3 to join the fight against the blaze. one hundred and seventy-eight engines are on scene with a total of 39 fire crews, 26 structures have been destroyed, 8 damaged and there have been 2 injuries reported. As of Sunday the Thompson Fire was considered 86 percent contained.
