A freight train ran off the rails in El Centro Tuesday morning.

The Union Pacific freight train derailed at about 2:00 a.m. just east the crossing on Sixth Street. Ten railcars overturned while transitioning a 90-degree curve in the tracks. All the railcars were empty. There was no threat to the public or disruption to local traffic. There were no injuries.
